Playing in the snow with my two year olds.
The first snowball I tossed hit my Little Man in the center of his well insulated chest. I might as well have thrown poop on him. After a long hesitation in which he stood with his arms spread to his sides, Little Man looked at me with his big hazel eyes, pointed his finger at me and shouted,"You don't hit me!"..."Oh yes I do" I laughed back, and tossed another snowball at his chest. "No you don't do that Terrie!"..."Yes I do Lil Dude, here comes another one...ready?" Tell me is anyone ever really ready to get hit with a snowball?
The snow here is so wet that it holds together with little or no pressure and was staying together even after hitting the front of Little Man.
"Here big guy, pick it up and throw it at Cookie...like this..." I retrieved one of the snowballs and tossed it onto the front of Cookie, she was totally unimpressed, in fact she glared at me, turned around and walked away. No hard feelings Cookie! Willing participant or not, Cookie had served her purpose...Little Man figured out how to snowball fight!! Fascinating how you can watch their eyes and see an actual physical change in them when they figure something out. Little Man's face transformed from "What the heck did she just do to me" to "Oh my Gosh! I get to throw snow!!! AT PEOPLE!!!" His first snowball missed me but I made sure he hit me with the next one and several more thereafter. I tossed snowballs back at him and we 'fought' for about 10 minutes...soooo much fun.
Cookie meanwhile kept wandering around the play area announcing, "Terrie there's snow on (--------)" Turns out someone put snow on everything!
I always dress lighter then the kids so that when I start to get cold I know it's time to go in, for instance today I had on tennis shoes and a lightweight winter jacket...I figured I was good for about half an hour. I solved the issue of 'time to go in' using the age old bribe of "Hot Chocolate". At this age it's not the 'hot' part that brings them in, it's the promise of chocolate, any form will do, thank you. Must go for now, snacks are gone and my kiddoes are ready to play! Bye for now, T.
